Bench dedicated to Dr. Heller

Last weekend, Mayor Francis X. Murray thanked longtime Rockville Centre physician Dr. Joel Heller for his years of service.

In honor of Heller’s 35 years of service to the community, his sons dedicated a bench in his name in front of his old office on Parking Field 1, off of Sunrise Highway.

Heller, who now practices out of a new office at 66 Lincoln Court in Rockville Centre, housed his practice on Sunrise Highway for more than 35 years. He moved to Lincoln Court in January.

“The Village of Rockville Centre thanks Dr. Joel Heller for his dedication, commitment and selflessness for serving the residents of Rockville Centre and its visitors while repeatedly giving back to this great community through his charitable work,” the proclamation Murray gave him reads.

Benches are available to village residents through the Rockville Centre Conservancy. People can purchase benches for $2,500, which includes a custom bronze plaque with four lines of text.

The Conservancy is a citizen group dedicated to beautifying village parks and public spaces. The benches are one way it raises money to do so. Those interested in purchasing a bench can contact the Conservancy at its website, www.rvcconservancy.org.
