Grillo: I don't believe there is one pressing issue, but three: parking, taxes and public safety. It is abundantly clear that in light of our limited physical space, parking modifications must be undertaken to maximize parking for our village residents and businesses. In addition to parking, we must seek alternative non-tax revenue, in the form of existing grants, to secure additional income for the village and to maintain minimal tax increases, while maintaining the level of village services that we have grown accustomed to. Lastly, the most recent incidents of crime in our downtown confirms that our police department must remain vigilant and properly funded and staffed to keep ensure the safety of our village.

Wieman: The most pressing issue facing the village, that is within the control of the trustees, is parking, as is discussed here. The biggest problem facing village residents is the ever increasing burden of school taxes. I’d like to see the village work with the school district, and the state, to find a way to reduce the school taxes we pay.
