On Tuesday and Wednesday, just in time for Thanksgiving, Mid Island Collision in Rockville Centre held its annual “Fill the Bag” event, donating thousands of pounds of food to charity.
Every year, Mid Island owner Bob Jesberger purchases literal tons of food to be donated to those in need for Thanksgiving. This year, Jesberger purchased $150,000 worth of food — enough to fill six tractor-trailors.
After the food was delivered, volunteers began to swarm, filling bags with fruit, vegetables, meat and more — enough for a Thanksgiving meal for hundreds of families.
Then the food was brought to local charities to be given to those who needed it the most.
