After the last of the parade marchers made their way past the grand stand in front of St. Agnes Cathedral, many people gathered at the Parish Center for the Tenth Annual Rockville Centre St. Baldrick’s event.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, created by Rockville Centre resident John Bender, holds events all over the country all year round. Participants raise money for having their heads shaved. The shaving represents solidarity with children who have cancer, many of whom lose their hair due to treatments.
This year’s event raised tens of thousands of dollars to be donated to childhood cancer research.
