There is still time to ensure that you pay only your fair share of property taxes. The grievance filing deadline for 2016 is March 1. Options to do this are filing on your own, which is time consuming and confusing, or hiring a reputable law firm with the right resources to fight on your behalf.

Founded in 2012 by Jonathan (Yoni) D. Gottlieb, Esq., The Gottlieb Law Firm, PLLC (GLF) is a boutique practice specializing in commercial and residential assessment appeals, making sure clients pay only what they should. They operate on a contingency basis, charging only if they can reduce the client’s property taxes. Typically, for a residential assessment appeal, 50 percent of whatever they save the client will be the fee.

Gottlieb stresses that if you live in Nassau County, you should always exercise your right to grieve your property tax assessment. You have nothing to lose and plenty to gain.

While most of its residential clients are from the Five Towns, GLF recently relocated to Syosset. Most things can be easily done via phone and electronically. “I’m all about the community, both personally and professionally,” said Gottlieb. “I grew up in Lawrence and continue to live there. It’s rewarding to be able to help homeowners in the community save money on their real estate taxes without having to do anything except sign their names.”

Prior to establishing GLF, Gottlieb was managing attorney at a Long Island boutique assessment review firm, focusing on real property tax law. He gained considerable knowledge pertaining to the administration of real property taxes and assessments in New York State, experience with real property tax exemptions, abatements and incentive, and an understanding of real property valuation.

“Having a boutique (smaller) practice allows us to address our clients’ needs with personalized service and attention to detail. GLF treats each client with respect, devoting enough time and resources to properly completing their case. Clients are provided with consistent updates. We have a high success rate in achieving reductions for our clients, and do not settle on the first offer we receive (unless the facts and circumstances warrant it, of course). We are able to do this because our NY State certified residential appraiser, who has over 30 years experience in this field, spends approximately two hours on average analyzing each one of our residential cases.”

The Gottlieb Law Firm, PLLC, has a comprehensive website — www.gottlieblawpllc.com — which offers a wealth of information about the process and the law firm. Jonathan Gottlieb, Esq. addresses and answers numerous myths, scenarios, and questions.
