According to police, Keon O. Williams, 37, of Meehan Lane in Rockville Centre, was arrested on May 4 after police located him in East Garden City. He was charged with the April 14 murder of Tyree Sheppard.

Police said that a Hempstead man found Sheppard suffering from a gunshot wound and lying on the sidewalk in front of 39 Burnett Street. The man flagged down a Hempstead police officer who was on a routine patrol. Sheppard was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:43 p.m.

Williams was charged with second degree murder and was arraigned on May 5 at First District Court in Hempstead.
