Rockville Centre Letters to the Editor

Our wonderful neighbors

To the Editor:

We flew to Seattle on Thursday, Jan. 21, and returned on Monday, Jan. 25. We missed the storm!

Having lived in Rockville Centre 47 years, we knew that our street would be plowed and our taxi would be able to get us home from JFK, but would we be able to get to our front door?

When we arrived, imagine our pleasant surprise to see our front walk, driveway and sidewalk cleared of snow.

Thank you to our Strathmore Lane neighbors! This community effort speaks for their generosity of spirit, and one reason why we are proud to call Rockville Centre our home.

Trump had a lousy idea, Al

To the Editor:

Re Al D’Amato’s column “Why Debate? Trump had a better idea” (Feb. 4-10): Donald Trump’s campaign represents what Senator D’Amato and I are senior enough to remember — the return of the Ugly American. While the Donald roars that he wants to make America great again, there are those of us who hear him say “make America hate again” or “make America grate again.”

As for his Iowa fundraiser, there has yet to be any proof as to the donors’ identities or that any veterans group have been given any proceeds. Furthermore, the $6 million allegedly raised hardly qualifies as huge. The event was worthy of an episode of “The Apprentice” and nothing more.

Donald Trump was rejected by over 70 percent of Iowa voters. That does not portend a Trump landslide.
