Last weekend, South Side High School staged its annual musical, which this year was the classic “Guys and Dolls.”

Set in New York City in the 1920s, the show tells a story of love, loss and gambling. Weaving comedy and songs throughout, the show has been one of the most popular productions for more than 60 years.

Nathan Detroit, who runs the longest floating craps game in the city, has found only one place to host his next game. But he needs a cash deposit, which he doesn’t have. So he bets compulsive gambler Sky Masterson $1,000 to woo Sarah Brown, head of the local mission. The show takes Sky, Nathan and all of their friends to places none of them expected.
