Tequila flows at this year’s Margaritaville

Another year, another successful Margaritaville fundraiser for the Rockville Centre Community Fund.

The fourth annual Margaritaville kicked off on Feb. 4 at the St. Agnes Parish Center and, along with the Mayor’s Annual Golf Outing, is one of the Fund’s chief events. It featured comedy, music, dancing and of course, tequila.

The honoree for the evening was Rockville Centre’s Over 40 Senior Basketball League. “The League is a shining example of what a civic-minded organization should be today,” said Mayor Francis X. Murray. “They’re not only interested in playing basketball, but they’re interested in being good neighbors.”

Former Mayor Eugene Murray founded the Rockville Centre Community Fund in 1987. It is a non-profit charity organization dedicated to helping village residents facing financial difficulties. The Fund responds to the requests of needy families and individuals confidentially, and provides them with referrals and financial aid.

“I would also like to extend my thanks to our event co-chairs, Peter Klugewicz, T.J. Murray, and Pat O’Brien as well as all the committee members who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this event,” the mayor said.
