Rockin’ the beach

Town Park Point Lookout is the scene for some summertime tunes, as the Town of Hempstead celebrates Independence Day with its annual festivities, beginning with a salute to veterans, Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a tribute to Abba and the Bee Gees with Abbamania and Night Fever, followed by fireworks. Oceanside Summer Gazebo Readings

Kiwanis Club of Oceanside presents its Summer Gazebo Readings on the Schoolhouse Green June 27 at 7 p.m. Each evening, authors and poets share their work. This week: Patricia Carragon, Peter Dugan Christina Rau, Isabel Espinal and Lloyd Abrams.

You’ll be feeling the beat when the Plaza Theatrical Productions’ stages “All Shook Up,” the  jukebox musical tribute to Elvis Presley. Run/Walk in memory of Jimi Gubelli
The Jimi Gubelli Foundation will be presenting over $10,000 in scholarships on June 25, at the 8th Annual Jimi Gubelli Foundation 5K Run/Walk. The race starts at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Cornhole Tournament and a Barbecue on Masone Beach.
