Join the Center Stage Chorus

The Center Stage Chorus returns, and Director Frank Scafuri is looking for 50 voices to join. If you can sing “Happy Birthday,” you can be a part of the group, so warm up those pipes and come down to the Sandel Senior Center at 50 S. Park Ave. at 12:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17.

Registration for Story Times begins

The Rockville Centre Public Library is opening up registration for My First Story Time (ages 2-3), On My Own (ages 3-4) and Pajama Story Times (ages 3-6) from Monday, Sept. 17 (at 9 a.m.) to Sunday, Oct. 14 for RVC cardholders in the Story Time Room. Please bring your children’s proof of age!

Go car-free

Be car-free on Friday, Sept. 21 for Long Island’s sixth Annual Car Free Day! This international event is celebrated every September during
which people are encouraged to carpool, take public transportation,
bike or walk in order to help reduce traffic, conserve energy and reduce harmful emissions. And save money!

Sample some wine

Indulge your palate while supporting Last Hope Animal Rescue, at the annual wine tasting event, Friday, Sept. 14, 6:30-10 p.m. All proceeds go to rescuing and providing care for dogs and cats in dire situations. The evening, held at the Museum of American Armor in Old Bethpage, includes a live auction and raffles. Admission is $55, including wine and dinner. Info: www.lasthopeanimalrescue.org.

True Colors

A full range of color’s magic is on display in this exuberant show
of over 100 works from the 19th century to the current hot talents.
From Monet and Matisse to Mark Rothko and Frank Stella,
and onward to the huge Color Field canvases and pulsing neon
sculptures of today, color as a means of expression is the keynote for
this exhibition. Nassau County Museum of Art, 1 Museum Drive,
Roslyn Harbor. 484-9338 or www.nassaumuseum.org.
