A North Bellmore man was killed in a two-car collision on the Southern State Parkway near Oyster Bay last night.

The driver of the vehicle that hit him has been arrested and faces multiple charges, according to police.

According to a State Police release, at around midnight, west of Exit 30 on the SSP, a 2017 Honda Accord traveling westbound in the right lane hit the back of a 2019 GMC, forcing the vehicle off the road and into a tree.

The GMC’s driver — North Bellmore’s Mamman T. Chacko, 69 — was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Christopher Gomez-Almendarez, 23, of North Baldwin, was driving the Honda, and was arrested Friday, police said. He was charged with felony second-degree Vehicular Manslaughter, misdemeanor third-degree assault and driving under the influence of drugs.

State Police ask that anyone who witnessed or has any information on the accident contact them at (631) 756-3300.
