The Cuban to offer ‘a whole different experience’ in Rockville Centre

The Cuban, a restaurant offering authentic (you guessed it) Cuban cuisine and live shows and music, will be coming to Rockville Centre next year. The business is set to occupy 213 Sunrise Highway, the former site of El Mariachi, a family-owned Mexican eatery that closed its doors in April.

It currently has a location in Garden City and will be opening one in Patchogue in the coming weeks, according to Al Vila, the Cuban’s director of operations. Entering the demolition phase at the Rockville Centre site, he added, he expects to open the restaurant in March or April.

“The Cuban just brings a whole different experience to the neighborhood,” Vila said.

The restaurant’s owners also own Margarita’s Café, which has locations around Long Island, including East Meadow and Wantagh. In addition to an array of Cuban dishes, including a brunch and tapas menu, the Cuban will feature exotic drinks and live entertainment with singers and dancers.

“Nobody really offers an authentic Cuban experience like we do,” Vila said.
