Touro College hires Lawrence resident for dual positions

Abraham Jeger, of Lawrence, is the new chief operating officer and associate dean for student affairs at Touro College of Pharmacy in Manhattan. Jeger was previously the dean for academic outreach and site development at New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury for more than 40 years.

At New York Institute of Technology College, he formed new and vital partnerships for academic affiliations and developed a vital school-wide mentoring program. He also is a professor of psychiatry and behavioral medicine, and has published more than 80 research contributions including journal articles, book chapters and conference presentations.

He earned his Ph.D. in psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and his bachelor’s degree in the same discipline from Brooklyn College where he graduated summa cum Laude.

He has received distinguished awards including a Citation for Rural Medical Education, NYITCOM’s Standard of Excellence Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Osteopathic Directors and Medical Educators.
