Valley Stream man arrested for committing multiple burglaries

Donald Smith, 53, of Valley Stream, was arrested on Oct. 19 for committing four burglaries and one larceny from a vehicle between September and October.

According to Nassau County Police, Smith was arrested following an investigation, which included a review of video surveillance and studying DNA evidence. He was identified as the person responsible for burglaries at:

Restaurante Y Pupuseria Eugeni in Lakeview on Sept. 14 at 5 a.m., when a cash box and cash were stolen

China King Restaurant in Valley Stream on Sept. 22 at 6:05 a.m., when a cash register and cash were stolen

B & K Beverages in Valley Stream on Oct. 16 at 1:55 a.m., when a cash register and cash were stolen

Meat & Grocery Market in Elmont on Oct. 19 at 2:50 a.m., when a cash register, cash, credit card reader and checks were stolen

Smith was also found to be responsible for a larceny from a vehicle on Oct. 2 at 7:10 a.m., when he allegedly stole a purse containing cash, credit cards and electronic devices from a car parked at the 7-Eleven on N. Central Avenue in Valley Stream.

Smith was found on Oct. 18 at 9:57 p.m. in Hempstead, where he was placed under arrest. He is charged with four counts of burglary in the third-degree and grand larceny in the fourth-degree. He was scheduled to be arraigned at the First District Court in Hempstead on Oct. 20.
