An expanded Levitt. Cape sustained damage Friday afternoon when fire started on the outside of the home and extended inside.

The home, located on Vista Lane near Bluejay Lane, brought all units of the Wantagh Fire Department to the scene firefighters living in the vicinity reported that fire was visible. The homeowner and his family were unaware of the fire until police knocked on his door.

The fire, which appeared to be electrical in nature, started around an air conditioner and spread via a pipe recess into the home. It was quickly extinguished and prevented from extending into the attic area of the home.

The Levittown Fire Department provided an additional ladder truck to the scene and units from the Seaford, North Massapequa and East Meadow Fire Departments relocated into area firehouses to protect the fire district. There were no injuries.
