Seaford Broncos play where the pros do

Posted

The Seaford-based Long Island Broncos 10-year-old blue team recently took a trip to MetLife Stadium, where they were hosted by the New York Jets.

The day of excitement started out as players and family members boarded luxury coach buses and made their way from Seaford to East Rutherford, New Jersey. When they arrived, the boys were allowed through the gates early and they welcomed the Jets to the stadium with high fives. The Jets players and coaching staff gave the boys Jets coins as they passed by.

Next, the boys ran through the tunnel onto the field before the game, where they were then flanked on either side by the Jets cheerleaders. As the Jets players were announced, they ran through tunnel themselves and then past the line of Broncos players. During all of this excitement, one of the boys said, “This is the best day of my life.”

The boys were able to watch the Jets game against the Detroit Lions. Afterward, the excitement continued as the boys played their own game against the East Rockaway Raiders right on the MetLife field. The boys had the opportunity to make their first tackles and touchdowns on a professional field. Bill Santella and Coach Doug Schiller made it a day the boys will never forget.
