Seaford showcases its talent

Posted

Seaford Middle School students took their talents to the stage and performed in front of a live audience on Nov. 13. There were musical performances of all sorts including singing and dance routines. Several students showcased their instrumental abilities, as the clarinet, drums and bagpipes all made an appearance.

The event, “Seaford’s Got Talent,” replaced the singing competition, “Seaford Idol,” that had been held the previous two years. Organizer Christina Urso said the change was made to feature more students with a variety of talents.

There were 27 acts. The program was hosted by Music Idol Entertainment, with the emcee asking trivia questions and inviting the audience to sing along to popular songs such as Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

The crowd enthusiastically cheered the performers, and many clapped or stomped along. At the end of the night, winners were crowned. The top finisher was eighth-grader Melissa Schoenig, who sang. The first runner-up was seventh-grader Andrew Leahy, who played the bagpipes, and second-runners up were dancing duo Dominique Cettine and Sarah D’Orio.
