Summer carnival is 'One in a Minion'

About 200 children sprawled across the Seaford Manor Elementary School grounds last week for the annual end-of-summer carnival.

The Seaford Summer Recreation Program, which is in its 11th year, sponsored the event on Aug. 11. In addition to offering several activities for kids of different ages, the carnival served as a fundraiser for the family of Anthony Secondino, a Seaford resident who passed away earlier this summer at age 46.

Through community donations, residents of the school district was able to raise more than $10,000 for the Secondinos.

“The community is really incredible,” Bill Dietz, a Seaford School District teacher and a co-director of the camp, said. “Each time we do this, no matter the cause, people always come out to help.”

The carnival also marked the end of the camp season. Children participated in activities that aligned with a theme: “One in a Minion.”

The theme was based on the popular children’s film, “Minions.” Kids played games like bubble soccer and volleyball, had their faces painted, danced to the DJ’s music selections, soaked volunteers in a dunk tank and munched on Italian ices donated by Tarallo’s Pizzeria.
