The Mad Hatters of Seaford

Sporting bonnets, graduation caps, helmets and more, children celebrated a Seaford Pubic Library tradition recently: the 20th annual Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

The event, sponsored by the Friends of the Seaford Public Library, was held on Feb. 24. Children ages 3 through 9 had fun dressing in wacky hats, creating Cheshire cat masks and cards and enjoying scenes from Walt Disney’s classic animation “Alice in Wonderland.”

With students off from school for winter break, parents got some down time while their children enjoyed snacks, made crafts and listened to stories.

Members of the Friends of the Seaford Public Library said that they sponsor programs like the tea party to enrich the facility’s services to the community. With membership fees and funds raised at annual events like the book sale, the group supports children’s and adult programs and, at various times, helps buy items for the library.
