Breast Cancer fundraiser raises over $5000

Every single dollar raised is donated to breast cancer research for organizations like Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society. This year for the fifth year, Jeremy’s Ale House on the Nautical Mile held its event on Nov. 6. Freeport families and residents of the greater Long Island community also attended to help with the cause. This year’s event raised over $5000.

Owner of the Woodcleft Avenue bar, Jeremy Holin, along with his son Jay and with the help of family friend Pat Chioparo, work together to host the event. According to Jeremy a few years ago, Nancy Horishmy, a friend and patron of the bar informed him that she was a breast cancer survivor.

Inspired to extend support, he sprung into action. The bar doesn’t only just provide the location, but also includes food and beverages and full staff for the event. Chioparo has also had a hand in collecting door prizes and raffles to giveaway throughout the evening. Over the course of the last few years, the donations have steadily increased from $2500 to over $4000.
