July 8 turned out to be a perfect day to celebrate the season. Families from Wantagh, Seaford and Levittown flocked to East Village Green Park for the 20th annual Lazy Days of Summer festival.
The Levittown Community Council, a civic organization that aims to “bring pride and unity to the community, sponsored the fair. The group’s members live in the Island Trees and Levittown school districts. The Levittown District takes in parts of north Wantagh and Seaford.
For two decades, members of the council have invited local folks to come to the Lazy Days of Summer festival for games, children’s activities, musical entertainment and food. This year’s festivities were extra special, organizers noted, because many families celebrated Levittown’s 70th anniversary as a suburban community.
Children had fun getting their faces painted, playing water-themed games and nibbling on ice pops and summer treats. Parents said that they enjoyed live music from the stage for performers on the park lawn.
In addition to the fair, the council encourages volunteerism. The group honors Levittown District students with community service awards every May. For more information about the organization, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
