Police arrested an East Meadow man who robbed two banks at gunpoint since February, officials said.
Benjamin Maynard, 32, allegedly brought a black handgun into the Bethpage Federal Credit Union in Levittown on May 2 and pointed the weapon at a 23-year-old male teller before passing him a note that demanded cash.
The teller complied and Maynard left with an undisclosed amount of money, according to police. There were 3 employees and one customer in the bank and no injuries were reported.
An investigation revealed that Maynard was also the culprit behind a Feb. 8 robbery at the Roslyn Savings Bank in Seaford. When police arrested Maynard at his home on May 8, they found him in possession of 16 glassine bags of a substance believed to be Heroin.
He is facing charges of two counts of robbery and possession of a controlled substance. He will be arraigned today at the Nassau County First District Court.
