Bellmore and North Bellmore school district officials recently reorganized their respective boards of education for the 2014-15 academic year.

Both boards met on July 1 to choose new presidents, vice presidents, committee members and delegates to the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District Board of Education. Experienced trustees will lead both the Bellmore and North Bellmore boards next year.

Members of the Bellmore Board of Education gathered at Winthrop Avenue Elementary School to reorganize. Janet Goller and Jay L.T. Breakstone, two longtime trustees, were sworn in as president and vice president, respectively.

This is not the first time that Goller has been named president, as she has served Bellmore’s board for nearly 20 years. She will also continue to represent Bellmore on the Central District board, along with Trustee Marion Blane.

Goller has been an active member of the school community for 28 years. She previously served as co-president of the Shore Road PTA, president of the Bellmore-Elementary Council of PTAs, president of the Bellmore Elementary SEPTA, vice president of the Grand Avenue PTSA, co-president of the Kennedy PTA, co-president of the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District Council of PTAs and vice president of the Kennedy Booster Club.

A longtime Bellmore resident and Mepham High School alumna, Goller, a financial operations manager for a major cheese importer, has three children who attended the Bellmore schools before they graduated and went on to college. She lives in the community with her husband of nearly 40 years, Edward.

The vice president, Breakstone, was re-elected to the Bellmore board in May. He has served the district for nearly 20 years, as he was first elected a trustee in 1996.
