Benefit for Life fundraiser set for March 4

Posted

The 8th annual Gina Giallombardo Benefit for Life fundraiser will take place at Cannon’s Blackthorn in Rockville Centre on March 4.

Giallombardo, a 2006 graduate of South Side High School, was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare soft-tissue pediatric cancer, in November of 2009. Despite continuous chemotherapy and several rounds of radiation, she passed away on May 12, 2011.

There is a $30 suggested donation for the event, which will be from 2 to 6 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research Center, the Long Island Ronald McDonald House and the Gina Giallombardo Scholarship Fund at the high school.

There will be raffles, t-shirts and magnets on sale. Those who bring a pair of “silly socks” will receive a free raffle ticket for the Gina Basket.

For those who cannot attend, donations can be made to the Life for Gina Foundation at 28 St. Marks Ave. Basket donations can be made by calling or texting 516-234-2452 or 516-909-3440.
