Christina Perri headlines at Eisenhower Park

Nassau County’s free summer concert series became a little fresher last weekend, when Eisenhower Park welcomed pop artists Christina Perri and Tegan and Sara to the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre for a night of music.

Fresh in the Park, presented by Fresh FM, is an annual event where the county draws more contemporary artists that appeal to a younger audience. Last year, it was headlined by The Plain White T’s and Sara Bareilles.

Christina Perri, who released a new album, “Head or Heart,” in April, performed to an enthusiastic crowd of mostly female teens, while Tegan and Sara, identical twin sisters from Calgary who have been performing for more than 15 years, were equally well-received by the large audience.

The free concert series will continue throughout the summer. On Aug. 2, a Tony Orlando concert will serve as a salute to veterans. The series will culminate on Sept. 27 with a performance by Eddie Money. To view the entire schedule, visit http://www.nassaucountyny.gov/agencies/parks/documents/FreeConcertSummer2014.pdf.
