Valley Stream Deputy Mayor Dermond Thomas was selected as a member-at-large of the board of directors of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, the organization announced last week.

Thomas and 16 others were elected on May 16. Board members “serve the mission to provide leadership, innovation and constant support to the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Council,” said a statement from the organization, which has 23,000 members.

The Girl Scouts cited Thomas’s position as director of business development, corporate counsel and assistant secretary of MSC Industrial Supply, in Melville, and his responsibility for leading the company’s drive for growth.
