East Meadow celebrates the arts at expo

Sweet music and plenty of visual art filled the halls of the Leon J. Campo Salisbury Center at the East Meadow School District’s annual winter art show.

The exhibition was held on Dec. 10. Students from all of the district schools were recognized for their talents, officials said.

During the art show, members of the W.T. Clarke High School string quartet performed for community members. At the same time, faculty, students and their family members looked at the paintings, papier-mâché pieces, drawings and photographs in the exhibit.

Students across grade levels also received certificates of recognition. District officials said they were honored for their tremendous work and creativity.

The expo was one of several events at which the arts were celebrated in East Meadow this month. District schools hosted winter concerts from Dec. 7 through 16.

Two additional concerts will be held at Woodland Middle School next month, administrators said. The eighth grade show will begin at 7 p.m. on Jan. 20 and the seventh grade show starts at the same time on Jan. 26. The community is invited to attend.
