Five Towns Letters to the Editor

Traffic issues need addressing

To the Editor:

Rabbi Dr. Edward Goldstein’s letter to the editor “Waiting for H-W to fix dismissal issues” (Feb. 20-26) could not have said it better on what many also experience with “traffic difficulties” on Williams Street, between Daub and Franklin avenues near the Yeshiva of South Shore.

I have contacted Councilman Anthony Santino’s office about the situation that impedes car travel down Williams Street, especially when school lets out or when Sunday classes end, even providing photos, and the situation and issues only continue.

When will these issues that affect those of us living near these schools be taken seriously and addressed?

Wishing de Sciora all the best

To the Editor:

I congratulate Susan O. de Sciora for the great work and service she has provided to the patrons of the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library as director.

As noted in the article “H-W library director is retiring” (Feb. 20-26), besides being a great librarian and an innovator, Susan is a very caring and giving person.

The Five Town Indian Association has had the good fortune of being allowed to use Gold Hall to hold the Children’s Day in the library. Susan and Nadine Connors, the library’s program director, were so helpful and understanding in giving us full support. They would even dress up in sarees — Indian dresses — as a display of their support.

We are going to miss Susan. But she deserves her retirement. I wish her all the best in whatever activities she plans to do next. On behalf of the members of the Indian community in the Five Towns, we wish her God’s blessing in all her future work.
