Other highlights include an equestrian demonstration by “Rough Rider” re-enactors, children’s games enjoyed by the Roosevelt children and patriotic crafts. And, of course, President Roosevelt, as portrayed by James Foote, will be at his home to greet and chat with visitors.
The Sagamore Hill Band performs, at 2 p.m., on President Roosevelt’s porch. The rousing concert includes patriotic tunes by John Philips Sousa, period campaign songs and popular music of the early 20th century, along with speeches by local dignitaries, and an appearance by the President himself. Seating is on the lawn, so visitors are encourage to bring blanket or a lawn chair.
