Charles “Charlie” Chiarello, of Valley Stream, died peacefully on the morning of Feb. 1 in New York City. He was 63.

Charlie graduated from Cathedral Preparatory Seminary in Elmhurst before going on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Queens College. He married his loving wife Chris in 1974. He was known as a loyal and trusted friend to many, and was a loving husband, father and uncle, and an extremely proud grandfather.

He was a sportsman, spending much time on the golf course and cheering on his favorite team, the New York Yankees. He was also a student of the Italian language and culture, and enjoyed serving as a coach, mentor and volunteer around the village.

He founded a successful small business, Classic Coffee Systems, in 1980, owning and operating the company for 34 years. He sold the company to Corporate Coffee Systems in 2014, and was featured in the trade publication Vending Times following the sale.

Chiarello was preceded in death by his parents, Vito and Gloria. He is survived by Chris; his children Doug and Greg; his siblings, Robert, Paul and Gloria; and his grandchildren, Tinsae and Charlie.
