H.S. students talk health with District 13 kids

Juniors from North High School visited the four elementary schools in District 13 to make presentations on health and wellness.

The volunteers, members of North High School’s Physical Education Leadership Program, taught lessons about the five major food groups and the importance of exercising and eating well.

Interactive stations were set up, including one that featured dance as exercise and another where younger students saw the amount of sugar found in soda.

“The program offers high school students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, while helping to inform Valley Stream’s younger students about the positives of regular fitness and eating well,” the district said.
