Long Beach native Lisa Elovich has worked in the criminal justice field for many years, but also enjoys taking on entrepreneurial endeavors.

Elovich's newest business venture combines her love of tequila and organic living. The Saratoga Springs, N.Y. transplant, who previously worked as a boxing promoter, launched One With Life Tequila late last year, with the fully organic product now on Long Beach shelves.

"I have always been a big fan of tequila and associate it with light heartedness and celebration," said Elovich, a former prosecutor for the Manhattan district attorney's office who now works for New York State. "The name of the tequila, One With Life, is based on a philosophy to stay at peace in the present moment."

Elovich believes strongly in a healthy lifestyle and worked hard to make sure the product is 100 percent certified organic.

"I strongly believe in organic products," Elovich said of the tequila. "It's very mild and easy to drink even for non-tequila drinkers."

The tequila, which is produced in Mexico by a small family-run distillery called Tequila Las Americas, will be served at a lunch party Elovich is hosting at Corazon de Cuba, at 26 E. Park Ave., at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Each bottle contains a hidden inspirational message along with a philosophical toast with quotes from Buddhist thinkers.

Elovich starting selling the organic tequila in the Saratoga Springs area in early July and it will also have a strong presence in her childhood community.

The tequila debuted in her native Long Beach, with a July 25 tasting at Beach Liquors. Elovich will also introduce the product during the Aug. 1 launch party at Corazon de Cuba following a memorial run in memory of her late father, Larry Elovich, the former president of the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce and former chairman of the Long Beach Democratic Committee.

One of the tequila drinks she expects to be popular on the barrier island is "City by the Sea", which features oranges, grapefruit, lime and citrus juice.

Elovich has plenty on her plate working in Albany, but has found ways to find adventure through entrepreneurial undertakings mainly on weekends. The Long Beach High School alum promoted and coordinated professional boxing matches as president of Pugnacious Promotions from 2005 to 2011,and is a personal life coach.

"I wanted to do something light-hearted and fun with a little educational piece to it," Elovich said of the motivation for founding One Life Tequila.  "Every seven years, or so, I like to reinvent myself and keep things interesting."
