The Long Beach Fire Department responded to a fire on West Fulton Street on Tuesday afternoon, a blaze that fire officials say originated inside a television.

The LBFD received a call for the fire at 548 W. Fulton St. just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Long Beach Fire Chief Rich Corbett said. Long Beach and Lawrence-Cedarhurst fire departments responded to the scene, and Island Park and Point Lookout-Lido fire departments remained on call, Corbett said. Atlantic Beach Rescue Inc. also provided an ambulance at the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the fire coming from the second floor living room of the two-family home. The first-arriving units started dousing the fire quickly, keeping damage to the home to a minimum, Corbett said.

A woman who lives upstairs was removed from the home by ladder off the back porch. The residents who live downstairs self-evacuated, Corbett said.

The fire was under control within 20 minutes, and all units were off the scene within an hour, Corbett said. The fire was deemed an appliance fire and ruled “not suspicious,” though Corbett said that the Nassau County Fire Marshal was notified to perform a routine investigation.
