Kudos to journalism excellence

To the Editor:
Lynbrook schools continue to shape today’s learners into tomorrow leaders. Congratulatons to our up-and-coming young journalists with Lynbrook High School’s Horizon newspaper, who took home 21 top awards from the Long Island Press High School Journalism ceremony.
Even more gratifying was that journalistic excellent was captured by student after student in different categories: Student journalists Dana Fader, Skyler Kessler, SoEun Lee, Hannah Mahmood, Kerrianne McManus, Bari Schechter, Molly Schiff, Samantha Sitt and other winners should be justifiably proud of their award-winning coverage as should the entire staff and the advisors of Horizon.
It’s my hope that as our students progress in their educational pursuits that this standard of excellence continues.  They have certainly made our community very proud.

A thank you to the community

To the Editor:
The East Rockaway Grist Mill Committee would like to thank the community, the organizations, the vendors, and all of the people that helped us with our successful with the Huckleberry Frolic — even though it was postponed one week due to rain.
Extra thanks to Kevin Conklin and the Department of Public Works who all worked diligently; our museum committee people, the bagpipers; our Marine color guard; the fantastic car parade, and of course, our euxiliary police for all of their help.
This is the only fundraiser the museum has, and we are dependant on the public for its support. What a beautiful way to celebrate the grist mill’s 325th anniversary.
