Long Beach woman arrested for DWI with kids in car

A Long Beach woman was arrested in Island Park on Oct. 14 after police said that she drove drunk while her two children were in the backseat.

Angela Jimenez-Lopez, 29, was driving her 2009 Toyota on Austin Boulevard at 6:15 p.m. when police pulled her over by Empire Boulevard.

According to police, Jimenez-Lopez's blood alcohol content was more than .08 percent, and her two children, ages 6 and 3, were in the rear passenger seat.

Jimenez-Lopez was charged with violating Leandra’s Law, which makes driving while intoxicated with a person age 15 or younger an automatic felony, even if it's a first offense.

Jimenez-Lopez was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content above .08 percent, two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child age 15 or younger, and aggravated driving while intoxicated and unlicensed operator.

She was arraigned on Oct. 15 at First District Court in Hempstead.
