Merrick Road shoe business burglarized

Posted

Nassau County police reported to the scene of a reported break-in at Shoe Repair on Merrick Road on Monday morning,

Nobody was in the store when its front door and window were broken just after 1:30 a.m. on May 11, according to owner Isak Iskhakoe, who discovered the damage when he arrived for work on Monday morning. Several pieces of jewelry and watches were taken, he said, though he was not sure of everything that was missing.

As police examined the scene, drivers on Merrick Road slowed down to view the damage, and some stopped to ask Iskhakoe what happened. He thanked them for their concern. He said he hopes the community will support him as he tries to recover from the burglary.

“I’m going to have a lot of things I have to replace or repair,” he said. “Hopefully, people come visit the store and they can help me get back on my feet.”

Officers at the scene said an investigation is ongoing.
