National Grid starts work on Long Beach Boulevard

Begins gas main repairs south of Shore Road

National Grid was scheduled to begin repair work Monday to a gas main on Long Beach Boulevard.

The utility is making what they called normal maintenance and repairs on a large diameter of the pipe, located south of Shore Road. While National Grid says that the repairs are confined to an insulated joint, the pipe is located at a “considerable depth” and the repair work involves heavy construction.

However, National Grid said that the work does not pose any safety concerns, and the construction area will be clearly marked. The project is expected to take five-to-six weeks to complete.

Residents who have questions or concerns can speak to a site supervisor or contact a community or customer manager 24/7 at (516) 729-8345 or (516) 238-1655, or call National Grid’s gas emergency number at 1 (800) 490-0045.
