On Jan. 5, Assemblyman Ed Ra, a Republican from Franklin Square, and State Sen. Jack Martins, a Republican from Mineola, joined Troop 93 Scoutmaster Charles Gripaldi, members of the troop and their families for an Eagle Scout award ceremony, which honored Franklin Square’s newest Eagle, Ryan George Goldberg.

“It takes a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication to achieve the high honor of Eagle Scout,” said Ra. “By reaching this goal, Ryan has clearly demonstrated great leadership and commitment to his community. I give my heartfelt congratulations to Ryan for receiving this honor and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Martins joined Ra at the Court of Honor to congratulate Ryan on earning scouting’s highest honor.

Goldberg became an Eagle Scout after years of rising through scouting’s ranks and organizing and completing a community service project. For his project, he supervised the cleaning of a streambed at Tanglewood Preserve in Rockville Centre that had been filled during Superstorm Sandy.

Goldberg had previously worked as a volunteer at the preserve during the summers of 2010 through 2013, taking care of the animals and maintaining their living environment. He is a 2014 graduate of Carey High School and is currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering at Manhattan College.

“It takes years of dedication, commitment and service to achieve scouting’s highest honor, which is why only a select few ever attain it,” Martins said. “After countless hours of serving the community, working hard and developing his skills, Ryan has earned a place among the truly elite, the Eagle Scouts. The entire community is very proud of Ryan, and we congratulate him on earning this prestigious honor.”
