New library director appointed

The Board of Trustees of the Franklin Square Public Library, at a Special Trustee Meeting held on Wednesday, July 15, appointed MaryAnn Tweedy to the position of director of the library. This concludes an exhaustive search by the Board. Tweedy is very qualified to assume this position, as she has worked in several Nassau County libraries and most recently she was assistant director at Shelter Rock Public Library. She received her Advanced Certificate in Public Library Administration from the Palmer Institute/LIU and her MLS degree from Queens College. She succeeds Acting Director Peg Smith, who will be retiring at the end of August after over 35 years of dedicated service to our library and it’s patrons. The Board of Trustees is looking forward to working with MaryAnn in the months ahead to continue to improve the services the library provides for our community.
