Oceanside Fire Department is ready

Oceanside Fire Chief Kevin Klein says the Fire Department did their shopping and they are prepared for the storm. As of 6 p.m. Monday they will be on standby for at least 24 hours, more as necessary. All apparatus is fueled ready.

Chief Klein asks that you go out and clean off the nearest fire hydrants. “If we need to do it, it’s not going to be good.”

If you lose power, and use candles or oil lamps, be extra careful, never leave fire burning unattended and take the same precautions with indoor heaters.

Remember to move generators out side, out of garages, carports and sheds. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer. Make sure generators have good ventilation.

If you lose heat let the fire department know as the Oceanside Schools have allowed the use of one of the school buildings as a short-term shelter.

In case of an emergency call 766-0245, and for NON-emergencies call 766 2717.

Klein says they are hoping for the best but prepared for the worst.
