Police reported that an Oceanside woman, June Guerin, 91, was fatally ran over by an 89-year-old friend.

On July 1 at 2:35 p.m., at the friend’s Windsor Parkway home, Guerin was spotting as the 89-year-old drove a 1999 Ford Sedan to the top of the driveway. The driver accidentally put the car in reverse and hit Guerin, who was standing behind the car.

She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver was also taken to the hospital for evaluation. Police say the car passed brake and safety tests, and the death has been deemed accidental.

Born June Carolyn Trueson to Theodore and Cora Trueson of Brooklyn, she married the now-deceased Gerad M. Guerin. She was mother to Gerard and Jennifer Guerin, Carolyn and Volker Schmidt, Robert and Vicenta Guerin, the late Thomas and Cecilia Guerin, Kenneth and Josephine Guerin, and Michael and Lisa Guerin.

Guerin was also “Gram” to Ryan and Krista Schmidt, Adam, Jared, Emily, Allison and Alec Guerin and a beloved Aunt to many special nieces and nephews.

A very special friend to many, Guerin was a life-long member of the St. Anthony Parish. She was also an avid gardener and tremendous cook, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed by many. Her life has indeed been a celebration. Her family is very thankful she was their mother, and had her for so many fun filled years.

Her Funeral Mass was held at St. Anthony’s Parish on July 6.
