Police investigate Elmont Deli robbery

The police are investigating a robbery that occurred on Monday, June 22, at 3:55 p.m. in Elmont.

According to police, a 23 year old male employee was working inside the Elmont Deli Grocery – 782 Hempstead Tpke, when three unknown men entered, displayed a black handgun and ordered the employee to the back of the store. The employee noticed one of the men rolling down the metal security door and locking the interior glass door. As the employee sat in the storage area, the three men went through the store taking several printed lottery tickets, a DVR system, several cartons of Newport cigarettes and money from the cash register. The men fled the store in an unknown direction.

The first man displayed a black handgun and is described as black and wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with a red scarf covering his face.

The second man is described as black and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, white and blue work gloves and a red bandana covering his face.
The third man is described only as a black man.

There were no reported injuries. Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
