Police release name of Bronx man killed in Valley Stream shooting

Police released the name on Tuesday of the Bronx man who was shot and killed as he was leaving the Bronx Barbeque restaurant in Valley Stream early Saturday morning.

Gary Harris, 51, was shot after exiting the restaurant, located at 694 Sunrise Highway, with three other people, a woman and two men, who were not identified.

The shots were heard in the parking lot outside the restaurant at 12:30 a.m., according to police. Harris went back inside the restaurant and collapsed on the floor. He was taken to the hospital with a single gunshot wound, and was pronounced dead at 8:26 a.m.

Police did not say if they had any suspects, and said the investigation is ongoing.

A manager at the restaurant on Tuesday said he was not working at the time of the incident and had no information about it. The restaurant’s website bills a live DJ on Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
