The threat of flooding continues in Island Park. The National Weather Service is calling for rain to continue overnight and become more sporadic through Sunday morning, with the winds, now coming from the east to shift to the south by Saturday night.

Island Park Mayor Michael McGinty said a pictorial has been prepared for inclusion in the Federal Drainage Study now underway. "We have performed all preliminary tasks in an accelerated fashion, including those requiring New York State Department of Environmental Conservation approval." McGinty said cleaning of Island Park drains will continue Tuesday.

A coastal flood warning remains in effect for Island Park and Oceanside from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. tonight for a new moon and high tide at 8:43 p.m. at 5.48 feet, which is one and a half feet above astronomical high tide.

The weather service is also calling for the possibility of more flooding tomorrow night.
