Police are investigating two gun-related incidents that occurred in the Channel Park Homes earlier this week, though police officials say that there were no reports of shots fired.

At 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, Long Beach Police Department spokesman Lt. Mark Stark said that a fight broke out between two men following a party in the neighborhood. One man allegedly threatened the other with a gun, Stark said, and a crowd gathered because of the commotion, but no shots were fired.

On Tuesday, the Police Department received a call from a Channel Park Homes resident who found two shell casings on the ground at the apartment complex. Police responded to investigate, but Stark said the department again received no reports of any shooting in the neighborhood.

The incidents come on the heels of a number of shootings in the area last month that caused concern among residents across the city. Community and religious leaders held a “Unity in the Community” service at Channel Park Homes at the end of June, to call on residents to unite against gun violence and not tolerate it in the community any longer.
