Simulcasting cancelled at Belmont Park

Belmont Park will be closed for simulcasting on Monday, Oct. 29, and Tuesday, Oct. 30 in anticipation of heavy rain and high winds as a result of Hurricane Sandy. Telebet and Internet wagering through NYRA Rewards also will be suspended on both days.

The Grandstand structure at Belmont Park is an official evacuation centers for the New York City Office of Emergency Management (NYC-OEM) and the buildings will remain open on Monday and Tuesday for evacuee processing. OEM personnel will be on site at throughout the storm to assist evacuees, operating on the first floor of the Grandstand at Belmont,

Evacuees reporting to Belmont will be aided and transferred to nearby shelters.

“The safety of NYRA’s patrons and employees is our paramount concern,” NYRA President and Chief Operating Officer Ellen McClain said. “Given the forecast, we’re taking every precaution to secure the facilities and minimize risk for all involved.”
