Snow expected Monday morning

Nassau County could see 1 to 3 inches; East Rockaway, Lynbrook schools open as of 8:30 a.m.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Nassau County. Several inches of snow is expected to fall early Monday morning,starting with a mixture of rain and snow overnight - all promising for a hazardous morning rush hour.

There will be periods of light to moderate snow on Monday, with winds 10-20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph.

Nassau County could see 1 to 3 inches, while Suffolk could see 4 to 8 inches, with some higher amounts possible on the East End, along with blizzard-like conditions.

Drivers are urged to give themselves extra time.
