Temptations for Her celebrates 30 years

Temptations for Her was originally a small shop in Oceanside, which Randi Grann and her mother, Joan Kombert, opened in 1985. As the business grew, they moved down the block into a larger store. By the year 2000, Randi’s husband, Jeff Grann, joined the business, and a second location in Merrick was opened. This year, they are celebrating 30 years in business.

Women’s contemporary sportswear and accessories is what Temptations for Her is all about. Both boutiques offer endless selection, unique styles, and highly personalized service.

“What sets us apart from other clothing stores is our old fashioned approach,” said Jeff Grann. “We are hands-on and all about service. People don’t usually come to us for a particular brand or label, or a single item. They want to be outfitted. Our sales staff will lead the customer to a dressing room and bring her items to try on. They know how to put outfits together and make each individual customer happy.”

Their type of clothing will stand the test of time. They can satisfy any age from 30 to 75. Their look is good for casual wear, an evening out, or for going to work. Besides jeans, pants and tops, they also offer dresses. Accessory-wise, they have jewelry, belts and scarves — only the most special and unique.

At any given time, the store might offer 100 different labels, but not a lot of the same items. Some examples are jeans by J Brand, Citizens and Red Engine. T-shirts can be found by Michael Stars, Nation and Chaser. Better tops by Joie and Rory Beca are also popular, as are sweaters by White & Warren, Autumn Cashmere, and Minnie Rose. sportswear by 525 is featured as well. These are just a few of the many lines they carry.

The Granns stay cognizant of prices and strive to get their customers the best value. Trunk shows are frequent, and they are a huge event at the stores. Both locations are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a late night on Thursday, until 7 p.m.
