West Hempstead gears up for Relay

Posted

West Hempstead High School hosted an informative meeting on April 8 about its upcoming Relay for Life event, which is set to launch in June.

Chris Tellarico, a representative from the American Cancer Society, spoke to parents and administrators at the April 8 meeting about getting the word out for this year’s relay and recruiting their neighbors for the cause.

West Hempstead High School students Kurt Rockensies, Ashley Magaraci and Rebecca Dunne, who are all part of the school’s planning committee for Relay for Life, shared their fundraising ideas for the event.

The students’ most recent fundraiser involved charging classmates $1 for a yard of duct tape so they could plaster their principal Dan Rehman to a wall for three hours.
